The Rotary Controller is both an input device and a game controller. It is part of a game experience and is used to translate rotary motion into linear motion (game controls). We planned, built, and tested 12 controllers in total. My work focused on the construction and assembly of all parts. In the course of the project, various possibilities arose for capturing a rotational movement using sensors. We tested an optical detection and ended up with a mechanical detection of the rotary movement. Unfortunately, we were unable to coordinate the final integration into the game experience, which is why we paid attention to modularity and accessibility during the development of the controller.
